Appointment
Appointment
To get an appointment with the gynecologist, we must receive a referral from another doctor (usually your GP). The referral is most easily sent to us electronically, but it can also be sent by post or delivered to our reception.
The gynecologist will assess the information in the referral and schedule an appointment for you. The waiting time depends on the issue and may be up to 6 months, but for more urgent conditions you will receive an appointment sooner. In that case, the information in the referral must clearly state that there is a need for an urgent appointment.
Former patients also need a referral from their GP for new issues, unless otherwise agreed with the gynecologist.
Once the gynecologist has assessed the referral, you will receive an appointment notice by SMS. Usually, you will also receive an SMS reminder five days before the appointment.
It is very important that we have the correct contact information registered. We send SMS messages to the phone number provided by your GP in the referral, or to the phone number you have previously registered with us. If you change your phone number, it is your responsibility to let us know so that you receive the appointment notice.
If you do not have a phone or cannot receive SMS, we will send the appointment notice by post to the address stated in the referral.
Change appointment
We encourage you not to change the appointment you have been given unless it is absolutely necessary. Demand is high and our appointment lists are full, so if you reschedule, you should expect a long wait for a new appointment (3-4 months).
We understand that things can happen, and if you need to change your appointment it is important that you let us know as early as possible, so that we can offer the appointment to another patient. In that way, you can help us keep waiting times down by making sure the appointment you were given is used. You must let us know no later than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment (on business days) to avoid being charged a fee for late cancellation. This applies regardless of the reason for cancellation. If your appointment is on a Monday, you must let us know no later than the Friday of the previous week.
The fee for late cancellation is NOK 474 (as of July 2026), and this is not covered by the exemption card (frikort).
To change your appointment, send an email to dybwadsgyn@legepost.no. It is also possible to send an SMS to 2097. Start the text message with GID. Write your date of birth, your name, and your message. You can also call 22926092 during telephone hours.
